How should i prepare for my appointment?
#1 - Please switch your current hair removal method to shaving/trimming and have hairs be 1/8" - 1/4" long for your treatment. We can't treat hairs we can't see!
#2 - Discontinue any retinol or glycolic acid use 48 hours before your appointment.
#3 - Hydrate! Electrolysis is more comfortable when you are hydrated, and the hairs come out more easily.

Is there any reason I might not be able to have treatment at my consultation?
Yes, a heart condition (including pacemaker), insulin-dependent diabetes, or a skin condition flare-up in the treatment area. You will need to provide a doctor's note to have electrolysis with a heart condition or diabetes. If you would like treatment on a mole, we will need a dermatologist's note.
Other conditions such as pregnancy, active treatment for cancer, or other rare conditions would preclude you from having treatment until those conditions have resolved.
Additionally, if you are regularly taking Accutane or were taking it regularly within the last year, you will not be able to have electrolysis until you have been off the medication for a year.

What areas do you work on?
Our most popular areas are chin, neck, and upper lip. However, we also work on eyebrows, ears, cheeks, sideburns, chests, breasts, arms, underarms, abdomen, bikini line, legs, toes, and backs. We've even worked on knuckles and the front of noses. However, Electrology guidelines dictate that we cannot work up your nose or in your ear canal.
Additionally, we do not work on genitals.

What should i wear to my appointment?
Be conscious of what area we'll be treating. For faces, bulky tops or scarves could be in the way. If having a body area treated, wear comfortable clothing. Though you will be draped for treatment, you might not want jeans rubbing on your freshly treated bikini line when you get redressed.
Will it hurt?
Expect to experience at least some discomfort. Every client's pain tolerance differs and we try to be conscious of that when determining which settings to use. Our goal is to find settings that work for both you and your hair.
Certain areas are considered more sensitive (upper lip, brows, toes, bikini line). You may wish to use a numbing cream to help mitigate the pain in these or other areas. Feel free to discuss this with your electrologist. We sell lidocaine cream in our office or can apply it for you at the beginning of your appointment for $5 per area.

HOw many treatments will it take to remove my unwanted hair?
This is our most asked and most difficult to answer question as every client is different. Depending upon how many you have, your electrologist may be able to clear your visible hairs in a single session. However, we're dealing with hair growth cycles, and you may have hairs that have not cycled back through after your previous hair removal methods or hairs that have simply shed out through their normal growth cycle. Most new clients come more frequently in the beginning and start spacing their appointments out once hair growth has slowed.
Since we have so many follicles, not all of which are active simultaneously, it is always possible that hormones, steroids, or other conditions may stimulate new growth from follicles that have not been treated. The area where we see this most commonly is the face.
What this boils down to is that we have no concrete way to predict the number of treatments a client will need. But do not be discouraged! We are permanently shutting down active follicles starting with your very first treatment.
